Connecting Communities – Changing Lives
- Would you love to offer an inquiry-based program that teaches social and service-based education?
- Are you looking for a program that integrates global citizenship, personal development, sustainability and values?
- Would you like to connect your schooling community in a cross-cultural, service learning partnership?
Destination Dreaming is an Australian, not-for-profit enterprise that empowers young people through service learning and social education. We lead education programs for schools and communities, providing learning experiences that promote independence, social awareness and self-confidence.
What young people learn on a Destination Dreaming program is:
- the self-confidence and social awareness to build relationships within society and across cultures
- problem solving skills through inquiry-based learning experiences
- an awareness of self and the positive difference one can make in the world
- organisation and accountability in preparation for adulthood
- the value of cultural diversity and the essence of our common humanity
- our connection to global society and our responsibilities as global citizens
Our programs are perfect for:
- schools looking to develop or extend its social justice program
- schools looking to offer an inquiry-based, social education program that enhances academic performance
- teachers looking to contribute to a rural, low-resourced school on a volunteer holiday
- schools offering the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Health and Human Development or part of the Round Square network
- families looking for an experience that strengthen their relationships and contributes to a development project
- schools looking to offer a service learning and/or intercultural program that’s unique to their school

“In the eight years I have worked in youth education, I have learned we must provide our young people with real experiences that are about life itself. Opportunities for self-reflection, challenging community experiences that necessitate a degree of tolerance and strengthen character.
What this means for schools is the provision of programs that go beyond traditional learning and classroom study. Working in partnership with a select number of schools, we deliver social education and service programs that empower young people to contribute in a meaningful way. To develop self-confidence and empathy, and learn about their responsibilities as a global citizen.”
